John Wall sitting for rest again Friday

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

With his ironman streak broken, there's little keeping John Wall from the rest he probably needs.

The Washington Wizards star will sit out a second consecutive game for rest Friday as his team takes on the Brooklyn Nets, a bit of a favor to the better borough as they scrape for a playoff spot.

Prior to Wednesday, Wall hadn't missed a game since Jan. 7, 2013, playing through multiple minor issues this season. Over this regular season and last, only Damian Lillard has played more total minutes than Wall, who appeared fatigued over his last nine games, shooting 39.7 percent.

For the season, Wall's averaging 17.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 10 assists and 1.7 steals, shooting 44.8 percent. His 3-point shot has abandoned him some this season but he remains among the most dangerous two-way point guards in basketball.

With a playoff matchup against Kyle Lowry or Derrick Rose looming, ensuring Wall is at 100 percent a week from now is a prudent move by the Wizards.
