Pistons' Drummond cleared for Tuesday after suffering concussion

Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

Andre Drummond has passed the NBA's return-to-participation protocol after suffering a concussion in Saturday's loss to the Utah Jazz and will play against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.

The Detroit Pistons youngster took a hard hit to the head in the first quarter on Saturday, but briefly continued playing before heading to the locker room for concussion protocol evaluation. He was later ruled out for the remainder of the game.

The 21-year-old center is averaging 13 points, 13.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in his third season, with his field goal percentage dropping to a career-worst 50.2, due in large part to increased touches further away from the hoop than he was previously used to.

After climbing to within a half-game of eighth place in the Eastern Conference, the Pistons have fallen out of the playoff race thanks to a 10-game losing streak.
