Tyson Chandler out again Saturday due to hip injury

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks will be without all of their Chandlers on Saturday.

Already down Chandler Parsons for a fourth consecutive game due to an ankle sprain, they'll be forced to take on the Brooklyn Nets without Tyson Chandler, too.

Chandler, who missed Wednesday's game with a hip contusion, has been ruled out for a second consecutive outing Saturday, despite having made it through a full practice on Friday. He's also dealing with soreness in his ankle and foot.

In 56 games, Chandler is averaging 10.6 points and 11.7 rebounds while shooting 67.7 percent from the floor. He's posting a career-best player efficiency rating of 20.9 and ranks second in true shooting percentage, a category he's led the league in three times in his career. His screen-setting and finishing ability really help facilitate Dallas' pick-and-roll attack, the key to their No. 3-ranked offense.

Despite all that, it's on the defensive end where Chandler's impact is felt the most. A versatile pick-and-roll defender and strong rim protector, the Mavericks are 3.5 points per-100 possessions better on the defensive end when Chandler is on the floor, even though he plays most of his minutes in a starting unit with only one other above-average defender.

Bernard James drew the start at center with Chandler out on Wednesday, scoring seven points and grabbing 11 rebounds in 27 minutes.
