John Wall plays through sore Achilles again Saturday

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

John Wall continues to fight through soreness in his Achilles, and he suited up once again for the Washington Wizards on Saturday as they lost a 120-116 overtime decision to the Toronto Raptors.

Wall has been slowed by the issue since Tuesday and sat out shootaround on Saturday but is yet to miss any game action. While it's great that Wall was able to give it a go for the showdown, it's tough not to be disappointed that he and Kyle Lowry didn't battle for Eastern Conference point guard supremacy at full health.

Wall and Lowry are the East's starting guards, as voted by the fans, and there was ample debate in the lead-up to starters being announced as to who had been better so far. Lowry had a terrific November and December but Wall has been more consistent and better at the defensive end, with a more pronounced impact on his team's performance.

Wall did his best to try and bring the Wizards into a tie with the Raptors in the standings, scoring 28 points on 8-of-16 shooting while adding 12 assists, eight rebounds, and a steal in 45 minutes.
