Rodney Hood has setback with foot injury, out through All-Star Break

Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

It appears Rodney Hood came back a little too quickly from the foot injury that sidelined him for the first seven games of January.

Hood appeared in two games for the Utah Jazz last week but was forced from Sunday's outing in the fourth quarter due to soreness in his left foot. The Jazz announced Tuesday that an MRI revealed a recurrence of inflammation in the foot, and Hood is now back in a walking boot for at least a week.

The rookie shooting guard will be out through the All-Star Break, meaning he's set to miss at least another dozen games. That leaves the Jazz thin at guard once again and could be good news for Elijah Millsap, who has impressed on a pair of 10-day contracts and could be inked for the rest of the season to shore up the team's depth at the two.

In 24 games, Hood, the No. 23 overall pick out of Duke, is averaging 5.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 18.3 minutes. He's shooting a woeful 31.7 percent from the floor and 28.6 percent on threes, surprisingly poor numbers since he was quite the marksman at the NCAA level.
