Wizards beat Spurs behind Wall's 25

The questions end here: Washington Wizards point guard John Wall is a bona fide superstar.

On Tuesday, Wall torched the San Antonio Spurs' defense to lead his Wizards to a 101-93 victory over the defending NBA champions.

Wall scored 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting and recorded eight assists to spark the Wizards' offense.

The Spurs tried multiple defenders on Wall, but there was no remedy for his quickness and athleticism. He repeatedly burned veterans like Tony Parker and when pitted against bigger defenders like Danny Green, Wall used his guile and handle to set up himself and his teammates for easy scores.

With Wall spurring the offense, his teammates helped steady their defense. The frontcourt combination of Marcin Gortat and Nene Hilario subdued any interior efforts from the Spurs, holding their counterparts in Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter to just 21 points on 9-of-20 shooting.

The Wizards' perimeter defenders also played well, holding the Spurs' shooters to a miserable outing. Patty Mills exploded for 12 points in the first half, but failed to score in the second. Parker struggled against Wall's athleticism, scoring just 14 points on 7-of-18 shooting. The Wizards also did a good job closing out on Green, who shot just 4-for-16.

Wall led all scorers with 25 points, while backup center Kevin Seraphin came off the bench to provide 17 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes. Parker led the Spurs with 14.

With the win, the Wizards improve to 26-12 and 17-4 at home.
