VIDEO: Why yes, the 76ers are still winless

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The number 18 is just around the corner.

The Philadelphia 76ers fell to 0-14 to start the season on Monday with a 114-104 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers in a game that, for a half, looked like they may have a chance. The Sixers now sit just four losses shy of the 2009-10 New Jersey Nets, who own the league's worst start of all time at 0-18.

Standing in their way are the Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonto Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves, with the first three at home and the Timberwolves game coming on the road. The opportunity for history is there.

While Monday's final score against a very good opponent is perhaps encouraging, some of the highlights...were not.

If that doesn't sum up this 0-14 start, we're not sure what does.

But hey, referee Haywoode Workman is a former NBA player. Maybe Michael Carter-Williams just thought that anyone with any semblance of an NBA skill was worth passing to. And he was wide open.
