Kings' Gay likely to play Sunday vs. Thunder

Despite battling the flu, Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay will likely play on Sunday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Kings broadcaster Gary Gerould.

Gay battled through his illness to play 47 minutes in the Kings' takedown of the Phoenix Suns on Friday. Gay's shooting suffered, as he connected on just 5-of-22 field goal attempts, but he did manage to sink the game-winning shot with just over a minute remaining in double overtime.

Friday's victory pushed the Kings' record to 5-1 on the season. With Gay available for Sunday's contest against a depleted Thunder squad, the Kings could conceivably push their record to 6-1, and break their 11-game losing streak in Oklahoma City.

On the year, Gay is averaging 22.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game on 45.3 percent shooting from the field. He's also logged a team-high 214 minutes played this season. In the event that Gay isn't available, one of forwards Derrick Williams or Omri Casspi could conceivably slide into the starting lineup.
