Hardwood Highlight of the Night: Raptors play tic-tac-toe to get Lou Williams a wide-open 3

Much of the Toronto Raptors' early-season success has been chalked up to the power of continuity, but lately it's been one of their few offseason acquisitions that's been getting them going.

Coming off the first Player of the Week award of his career, Raptors sixth man extraordinaire Lou Williams kept cooking on Wednesday in Atlanta, reminding his former team that maybe trading him away for John Salmons wasn't their brightest notion.

Sweet Lou dropped 22 points, including seven in the fourth quarter, and nailed a huge triple from the corner to put the Raptors up seven. The Hawks were never close again.

The play starts out with an unorthodox pick-and-roll, as point guard Kyle Lowry comes up to screen for DeMar DeRozan. Williams is camped in the corner, with his defender, DeMarre Carroll, trying to keep him in range while also waiting to seal off DeRozan should he go left.

DeRozan uses the Lowry screen, but Kyle Korver goes under it, so DeRozan changes tack by trying to post Korver up. Because of DeRozan's post prowess, this draws a ton of attention from the Hawks defense, as Jeff Teague - ostensibly guarding Lowry (who's chilling offscreen) - and Al Horford both look to help Korver and trap DeRozan.

DeRozan does the smart thing and gets rid of the ball almost as soon as the help comes, hitting an open Lowry above the break. Teague has drifted, so Carroll has to jump up to contest a potential Lowry triple, leaving Williams all alone in the corner.

Lowry recognizes immediately that the Hawks are discombobulated, and the ball doesn't stay in his hands for most than a split-second.

The result is a wide-open dagger-ball from Williams, one of Lowry's 13 assists in the game, and an insurmountable Raptors lead.

They closed things out 126-115 to improve to 13-2.
