Heat's Josh McRoberts won't play in season opener
The Miami Heat will debut a heavily turned-over roster Wednesday night when they open their season at home against the Washington Wizards.
But one of their key offseason additions will have to wait a little longer to play his first regular-season game in a Heat jersey, as forward Josh McRoberts has been ruled out Wednesday thanks to lingering toe discomfort.
After enjoying his best NBA season with the Charlotte Bobcats last year, McRoberts had surgery in April to remove bone spurs from his left big toe.
His recovery kept him out of preseason action with the Heat, who signed him to a four-year, $23 million deal in the offseason. He's been practicing with the team in recent weeks, but apparently is still not ready for the rigors of game play.
