Jabari Parker says he's more comfortable at PF than SF

When the Milwaukee Bucks drafted Jabari Parker second overall in this June's draft, the plan always seemed to be to put Parker at power forward.

The reasons were fairly clear: he played power forward primarily at Duke, is big enough to handle the position in the NBA, and his offensive game makes him a fairly prototypical four in the league, worthy of the vaunted "stretch-four" designation if he can consistently show an 18-foot stroke.

As it turns out, Parker says he's more comfortable at power forward, too, and while the line between the five traditional positions has blurred, that seems to be where he'll line up as a rookie.

Here's Parker explaining on Sirius XM NBA Radio, as relayed by the Journal Sentinel:

As of right now I'm more comfortable with the 4 position. That's where I played previously, before getting drafted, at Duke. I played a lot of 4. Even in high school. I know this is a different level.

But in coach's style of play, it's more a stretch 4. That's where I like to play my game, even though I like to post up a little. Just being on the perimeter, setting screens and popping, that's what we've been doing so far. That's what coach Kidd has been anticipating me playing that role.

Parker also admitted to having "a little bit of anxiety" about the start of training camp, which, well, obviously.

The Bucks have a little more depth at the four than at the three, so Parker might still see occasional duty on the wing just to get everyone minutes. In the long run, he's a power forward more than a small forward, and the Bucks will eventually build that way.
