Huestis will report to the D-League, rather than Oklahoma City's training camp, Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman reports.

Analysis:

As expected, the 29th overall pick in June's draft will be "stashed" in the D-League for at least one season. The strategy allows the Thunder to avoid paying him a guaranteed deal right away, as their roster is already full. Huestis will not receive the league-mandated rookie deal and will instead settle for a roughly $30,000, one-year contract. While it's a risk on Huestis' part, it plays to the advantage of the Thunder, who can now personally oversee his development with the recently established Oklahoma City Blue.
