Report: Wizards interested in Ray Allen

The list of teams reportedly in the running for sharpshooter Ray Allen is growing by the day. The latest team to enter the fray is allegedly the Washington Wizards.

The team reportedly contacted the 39-year-old three-point specialist to gauge his interest in signing, according to CSNWashington

Allen has yet to give a clear indication whether or not he'll even return for a 19th NBA season, but that hasn't stopped a number of teams from letting it be known that they would be interested in adding him to their roster as a role player.

The No. 5 overall pick in the 1996 draft averaged 26.5 minutes and 9.6 points per game last season, while shooting 37.5 percent from three-point range.

The Wizards have their 15th roster spot open if Allen decides to come on board, and added his former Boston Celtics teammate Paul Pierce earlier in the offseason.

The Spurs, Clippers, Rockets, and Cavaliers have all also been linked to the pursuit of Allen so far this offseason.
