VIDEO: Ian Mahinmi airballs consecutive free throws

There's a reason they play exhibition games.

It's not just to help teammates who haven't played much together develop a chemistry, or help players shave off a few offseason pounds. It's also about rust, and getting an opportunity to clear your mind (and body) of any residual summer cobwebs.

Luckily for Ian Mahinmi, the Indiana Pacers center playing for France this summer, he got what will surely be the most embarrassing part of his season out of the way when the games don't count.

That would be the 6-foot-11 Mahinmi airballing consecutive free throws, an incredibly rare display of inadequacy. Even for a career 50.9 percent free throw shooter, you'd only expect to miss consecutive freebies about a quarter of the time; missing a pair without grazing the rim is on some Aurora Borealis odds.
