Report: Spurs, Cavs could open the new NBA season
LeBron James might get his chance at redemption against the San Antonio Spurs sooner than he might have thought.
The official NBA schedule won't be released until August, but the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn says there's a rumor floating around that the season opener will be hosted in Cleveland, where James will try to avenge last season's NBA Finals loss to the Spurs.
As NBC Sports' Brett Pollakoff points out, it seems a rather odd decision for the NBA's defending champs to open the season on the road after the Miami Heat were afforded the opportunity of opening at home the past two seasons, where they received championship rings following back-to-back titles.
However, it doesn't get much bigger than LeBron James' return to Cleveland and few people will shed a tear for the Spurs' players, some of whom will be collecting their third, fourth and fifth rings.
