Maybe Brian Roberts just really likes Hornets.

Undrafted out of Dayton, the point guard signed on with the New Orleans Hornets after a few years playing overseas. He spent last season there, but as a Pelican, before being made an unrestricted free agent early this summer.

Now, he's a Hornet again, reportedly agreeing to a two-year, $5.5 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets. Roberts will slide in behind Kemba Walker as the team's primary backup guard, but their skill sets are different enough that two-guard looks wouldn't be surprising.

This past season, Roberts averaged 9.4 points and 3.3 assists in 23.2 minutes, hitting 36 percent of his threes. The Hornets - then the Bobcats - used Ramon Sessions (later traded to Milwaukee), Luke Ridnour (acquired from Milwaukee) and Jannero Pargo as their reserve guards, and Roberts should bring some stability to the position.

Since the Pelicans opted not to qualify Roberts and made him a restricted free agent, they no longer have the right to match the offer, though obviously they were prepared for him leaving given their ample guard depth.
