Report: Cavaliers' Gilbert wants Wiggins at No. 1, front office wants Parker

If only Joel Embiid didn't undergo a major surgery the week before the NBA Draft, all might be well inside the offices at Quicken Loans Arena.

More details surfaced Wednesday about the Cleveland Cavaliers' front office conflict about its No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft.

According to ESPN's Chad Ford, owner Dan Gilbert is the one set on Kansas' Andrew Wiggins, while the rest of the building - including new general manager David Griffin - seems to be pushing for Duke's Jabari Parker.

"After what happened last year, [Gilbert] may choose to make the call himself," one source told ESPN of the discussions.

Gilbert allowed his front office and then-head coach Mike Brown to decide on the pick. They selected Anthony Bennett, whose rookie season was a struggle.

Parker reportedly "tanked" his workout on Friday in the hope he'd be playing in Milwaukee instead, a city closer to his hometown of Chicago. The Bucks own the No. 2 pick.

"You can't base everything on one one-on-none workout," a source said to ESPN. "But Wiggins was great and Jabari wasn't. It makes an impact. It makes you go back and reassess everything you saw during the year.

Update - 10:50 a.m:

Naturally, Gilbert tweeted that things are just fine in the office.

United in uncertainty, at least.
