Eric Gordon: (Knee) Basketball Activities By Month's End

Gordon (knee) expects to continue basketball activities in the next two weeks, the Pelicans' official site reports. "This was just a minor scope," he said of Apr. 16 arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. "I'm progressing very well. There's no doubt that this will be a better offseason for me. This year I'll be able to transition my body to do things I want to do now, instead of waiting almost until training camp."

Analysis:

At the moment, Gordon's activities are contained to catch-and-shooting and shooting off the dribble, but he should be unleashed in the very near future. He played and started the second-most games of his career in 2013-14, averaging 15.4 points (on 43.6 percent shooting), 3.3 assists, 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 treys, and 1.2 steals in 32.1 minutes. However, the output may not be sustained next season, as coach Monty Williams is considering turning to Tyreke Evans as the starting shooting guard. The reduced role wouldn't wipe away Gordon's value, though, especially after knocking down a career-best 39.1 percent from deep. Open looks should be a regular occurrence, if the force of nature that is Anthony Davis becomes even more of a terror to opposing defenders.
