Mario Chalmers on flopping in Game 1: 'It happened a lot,' can be confusing

Soobum Im / USA Today Sports

If Mario Chalmers looked confused in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night, it's because he was unable to wrap his head around all the flopping that was taking place.

On Saturday, Chalmers was asked about the perceived increase in contact embellishment in the Finals and admitted that it can be confusing when players fall unexpectedly.

"It can be at times," Chalmers told Eye on Basketball. "It happened a lot in the first game, kind of went both ways. It's part of the game now so you have to adjust to it."

We wonder if he may have been referring to this play from Tiago Splitter, for example:

The EOB piece linked above also has a great example from Manu Ginobili, who has a bit of a reputation for erring on the side of dramatic when there's contact.

As for whether the Heat respond in kind, Chalmers plead innocence, and claimed that he isn't quite sure how to flop effectively.

"I don't know but I need to find out the secret," he said.
