NBA does not expect AT&T Center air conditioning issue to postpone Game 2

Brendan Maloney / USA Today Sports

While the NBA didn't have an answer to the problem in the immediate aftermath of a sweltering AT&T Center in Game 1 of the finals Thursday, they sound relatively certain that Sunday's Game 2 of the NBA Finals will go ahead as planned.

An electrical issue caused the air conditioning to fail in San Antonio on Thursday night, leading to on-court temperatures that approached 90 degrees. Miami Heat superstar LeBron James was forced to leave the game with cramping issues as a result, and players, coaches, fans and media alike were left to fan, ice, and complain to make themselves feel better.

NBA vice president of basketball operations Rod Thorn spoke following the game, indicating that the issue is not expected to linger for Game 2.

That's not a certainty, of course, but the league is lucky to have two off days to sort the issue out.
