LeBron James on James Jones: 'we have to find some minutes for him'

When Heat forward LeBron James speaks, the world listens.

Following the Heat's Game 3 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, James advocated for head coach Erik Spoelstra to make some changesMost notably, James endorsed the idea of forward James Jones seeing the floor more often.

"We have to find some minutes for him. I don't see why he shouldn't play. He's huge for us when he's in the lineup. He's big time," said James.

As for his reasoning, James pointed to Jones' ability to stretch the floor with his three-point shooting:

It's the space that he provides, and his ability to shoot the ball. You can't do both when he's out on the floor: You can't help on my drive and try to contest the threes on him. You have to keep an eye on him.

James' comments make a lot of sense. Jones' shooting ability does limit the defense's ability to send help defenders towards James' drives without fear of repercussions.

Spoelstra has mainly opted to play forward Rashard Lewis ahead of Jones in the role of floor-stretching big, but Spoelstra turned to Jones while the Heat trailed by double-digits in Game 3. Jones did his part, sinking all three of his three-point attempts.

Jones, an 11-year veteran of the Heat, shot 51.9 percent from deep on 2.7 attempts per game in 2013-14.
