Report: Bulls would rather trade Boozer than let him go via amnesty

While a future with the Chicago Bulls is uncertain for Carlos Boozer, the team's owner isn't prepared to amnesty the 12-year veteran and his gargantuan contract, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Boozer is set to make $16.8-million in 2014-15 season and Stein's sources indicate Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf is hoping to trade him and is against the concept of letting him go via amnesty.

Sources briefed on Chicago's thinking say the Bulls are going to do everything they can to try to find a trading partner for Boozer before seriously considering the amnesty option.

NBA teams have a window to amnesty players that runs through July 10-16.

If the Bulls have any hope of acquiring Carmelo Anthony this summer through free agency, they need figure out what to do with Boozer in order to free up cap space, even if that means letting him go for nothing.
