Rockets' Camby has torn plantar fascia, out at least a few weeks
The Houston Rockets will be without veteran center Marcus Camby for at least a few weeks, as the 17-year veteran has torn his plantar fascia.
Camby explained the details of the injury and recovery plan to the Houston Chronicle:
“My plantar fascia is torn. I’m trying to do whatever I can to avoid surgery. We’re just going to rehab it and see how it goes in the next two weeks and take it from there. We don’t want to rehab it and nurse it and have it still be lingering. That is something I’m going to sit back and figure out and definitely look toward long term, as the season progresses to the second half of the season. I have to be smart about it.”
Plantar fascia injuries are notoriously fickle; they're difficult to put a timeline on, hard to play through and tend to linger on if untreated. In other words, if Camby avoids surgery, this is an issue that could plague him on-and-off this year.
Camby isn't expected to be a major piece for the Rockets, who have Dwight Howard and Omer Asik at center, along with 7-footer Donatas Motiejunas.
