The Charlotte Hornets received permission to speak with Stockton Kings bench boss Lindsey Harding for their head coaching vacancy, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Harding was recently named G League Coach of the Year after guiding the Sacramento Kings' affiliate club to a 24-10 record and the No. 1 overall seed during her first year in charge.

Harding went into coaching following a decade-long professional career. The Phoenix Mercury selected her with the No. 1 overall pick in 2007 and subsequently dealt her to the Minnesota Lynx. She made the WNBA All-Rookie Team that same year.

Harding also had a decorated five-year run at Duke, earning ACC Player of the Year, the Nancy Lieberman Award, and Naismith Player of the Year honors.

Charlotte has reportedly been allowed to interview David Adelman of the Denver Nuggets, Charles Lee of the Boston Celtics, Jordi Fernandez of the Sacramento Kings, and Kevin Young of the Phoenix Suns for its job opening, adds Wojnarowski.

Current Hornets bench boss Steve Clifford will step down following the campaign and is expected to transition into an advisory role with the front office next season.
