Report: Mavericks agree to 2-way contract with Johnathan Motley

After going undrafted earlier this week, the Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a two-way contract with Baylor forward Johnathan Motley, sources tell The Vertical's Shams Charania.

Motley is a high-upside prospect that could be an impact player in the right system. The 6-foot-9 forward improved by leaps and bounds in each of his three years in college and averaged 17.3 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists as a junior.

The physical tools for Motley are impressive. He pairs a massive 7-foot-4 wingspan with excellent lateral quickness and a 36-inch vertical. That comes in handy on the offensive glass where he grabbed almost five offensive rebounds per 48 minutes. Motley is also ultra-aggressive in the paint and will always look to finish strong and above the rim. His length and mobility should also allow him to guard multiple positions.

Motley does remain, however, a largely unfinished product. His offensive game lacks polish as he mostly defaults to straight line drives at the rim without much craft. Motley also gets tunnel vision when he has the ball and the release on his jump shot is labored. On defense, Motley sometimes loses focus which often lands him in foul trouble.
