Mavericks' Yogi Ferrell: Will come off bench Thursday

Ferrell will come off the bench Thursday against the Clippers.

Analysis:

Ferrell's performance had been trending down since the beginning of March with averages of 10.8 points, 4.4 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 three-pointers in 28.5 minutes per game, and after the Mavericks suffered a blowout loss at the hands of the Warriors on Tuesday, coach Rick Carlisle finally decided it was time for a change. Although it's been J.J. Barea who has been primarily eating into Ferrell's minutes, it's Seth Curry who will get the start at point guard, as he'll move over from shooting guard. Center Nerlens Noel will move into the starting lineup in Ferrell's stead, providing the Mavs with more size on the top unit. Look for Ferrell, who had seen no more than 27 minutes in any of his last four games, to lose more playing time and see his production take a hit with the move to the bench.
