Thomas 'didn't mean to throw anybody under the bus' with recent comments

USA Today Sports

Isaiah Thomas knows he needs to do a better job of keeping his emotions in check.

After appearing to take a shot at Boston's coaching staff earlier this week, the Celtics guard backtracked on his comments, saying that they weren't indicative of his true feelings.

"It happens. I didn't mean to throw anybody under the bus," Thomas told ESPN's Chris Forsberg. "That's not me. I just said how I felt at that time. My job is just to move on and do my job and don't make it a distraction, because it's not."

Frustrated by his team's shoddy performance, the 5-foot-9 guard voiced his displeasure with Brad Stevens' recent coaching decisions, saying that the Celtics were too deep into the season to still be experimenting with lineup changes.

"I gotta do a better job of calming down after tough games, tough losses," Thomas said. "I'm always going to be me. And that's the only way I know how."

Stevens didn't appear too concerned either way, believing that Thomas' comments were overblown by the media.

"At the end of the day, I didn't put much though into it until it became a deal that everybody was talking about," Stevens said. "And at that point in time, I heard from Isaiah pretty quickly."
