Celtics' Thomas: 'We can't be experimenting in Game 63'

USA Today Sports

Isaiah Thomas has had enough of the Boston Celtics' recent losing skid.

After watching his team drop five of its last eight contests, the All-Star guard appeared to take a shot at Boston's coaching staff, suggesting that the Celtics were too far into the season to still be testing out rotations.

"Everything," Thomas told ESPN's Chris Forsberg. "We should have won this game. We should have won (Sunday) night (in Phoenix). We can't be experimenting in Game 63.

"It's just the way we lost tonight was unacceptable. We lost the game in the last 15 minutes of the game. We played a really good game up until the last 15 minutes. And that's the players' fault, the coaches' fault, that's everybody in this locker room's fault. We could have done a lot better."

While the Celtics aren't doing themselves any favors with their recent losing streak, they remain near the top of the Eastern standings, and still have an outside shot of capturing the No. 1 seed in the conference.

"We're only three games back. It's not the end of the season," Thomas said. "We could go on a five-game winning streak starting next game. You never know. That's how fast things can change. But we have to figure it out. We will. We can't panic, but tonight hurt. It hurt me, I know that."

Thomas finished Monday with a strong individual performance, collecting 32 points, five assists, three steals, and two rebounds in the 116-102 defeat.
