LeBron won't pick favorites in Cavs' free-agent minicamp

The Cleveland Cavaliers are finally following up on LeBron James' calls for a playmaker, so The King is happy to leave everyone to their business.

Cleveland has assembled a motley crew - consisting of post-injury options Lance Stephenson and Mario Chalmers, along with near-retirement players Jordan Farmar and Kirk Hinrich - for a free-agent minicamp.

While James is familiar with those names, he won't play favorites.

"I got a history with all those guys except Jordan," James told ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "I got a history with Lance too, obviously. I got a history versus Kirk, I played him in a lot of playoff series. And I got a history with Rio ... At the end of the day, Rio is recovering from his Achilles tear. I hope he's been doing everything he needs to do just to get back on the floor. He loves to play the game.

"I'm a supporter of what this franchise wants to do, no matter what it's doing. But my focus right now is to get our guys playing championship-level basketball."

James has pressed management to recruit more playmakers, as cracks are starting to form in Cleveland's title defense. Having lost Matthew Dellavedova to free agency and Mo Williams to retirement, Cleveland has a glaring need at backup point guard that rookie Kay Felder has been unable to fill.

The fallout has left James to shoulder a tremendous burden. The 32-year-old leads the league in minutes per game - this after six straight Finals appearances. Cleveland also falls apart when James isn't on the floor to direct traffic.
