Doc Rivers won't rule out moving son Austin in potential trade

Doc Rivers would do just about anything to acquire another star player, even if it means parting ways with one of his family members.

While the Los Angeles Clippers president and head coach said he'd prefer to keep his roster intact, he wouldn't rule out the possibility of moving his son, Austin Rivers, in a potential trade.

"We're going to do whatever it takes," Rivers told ESPN's Rachel Nichols. "Listen, I would trade anyone. You would have to be willing to do that, so - and he would be one of them, and any of them would be one. But I don't want to trade any of our guys. I like our team. Having said that, if you think you can make your team better. That's my job."

Reports have recently surfaced indicating that the Clippers have discussed a trade with the New York Knicks for nine-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony. Rivers didn't confirm the reports, but he did say that other teams have contacted Los Angeles.

"Well, we're not talking to anyone, people are talking to us - I guess I can say that," Rivers said. "Listen, we love our team. We believe we are good enough right now. Having said that, my job is to look at this team and see if we can get better. And if we can, we'll do it."

Doc has spent the last two-plus seasons coaching Austin after acquiring him back in 2015 in a three-team deal involving the Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns.
