Report: Bulls plotting to sign Bosh if he can play next season

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Chris Bosh's future in the NBA is still up in the air due to his blood clot condition, but if he can play next season, at least one team is interested in his services.

The Chicago Bulls, who are reportedly already planning for such an event, will be first in line to sign the power forward if he can return in 2017-18, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Bosh, 32, is currently under contract with the Miami Heat through 2018-19. The club can remove his deal from its payroll after Feb. 9 - a year after the last time he played - but isn't expected to waive him until after March 1, which will prevent him from joining another team for a postseason run.

Bosh has career averages of 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, two assists, and a block per game over 13 seasons split between the Toronto Raptors and Heat. His last two campaigns were both cut short due to issues with blood clotting. Though he couldn't get medical clearance in Miami, spelling the end of his run there, he vowed to try to return to the NBA at some point after this campaign.

The 11-time All-Star would be an upgrade over all the bigs currently manning the frontline in Chicago, and should Bosh resume his pro career in the Windy City, he could reunite with Dwyane Wade, who signed a two-year deal with his hometown Bulls last offseason. The pair won two championships together in South Beach.

CB4 was spotted hanging out in Chicago and seen at the United Center earlier this month.
