Magic's Jodie Meeks: Will miss four to six weeks with sprained thumb

Meeks will be sidelined for four-to-six weeks, after an MRI on Thursday revealed two sprained ligaments in his right thumb, Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Analysis:

With Evan Fournier (foot) missing eight games since Dec. 23 with a lingering injury, Meeks has started at shooting guard in nine of the team's last 13 games, averaging 10.2 points (on 45.5% shooting), 2.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.8 three-pointers and 1.3 steals across 25.5 minutes per game during that span. It appears the Magic may have to look further down the depth chart for help at the position until further notice, given the projected length of Meeks' absence along with Fournier's uncertain return date. C.J. Watson, D.J. Augustin and Mario Hezonja will likely fall into more extended minutes off the ball, with one of those three likely to step into the starting five until Fournier is back.
