Westbrook cruises to 6th straight triple-double

Russell Westbrook continues to post numbers the NBA hasn't seen in decades.

The Oklahoma City Thunder point guard recorded his sixth straight triple-double in Monday's game against the Atlanta Hawks, securing the accomplishment with more than six minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Westbrook, who had logged only 22 minutes by the time he collected his 10th assist on Monday - to go with 15 points and 11 rebounds at the time - is enjoying the fourth-longest triple-double streak in NBA history, and the longest since Michael Jordan recorded seven straight in 1989.

Westbrook now has 11 of the league's 22 total triple-doubles through the first quarter of the season, and continues to average a triple-double on the campaign.

Oscar Robertson, who is the first and only player to average a triple-double for an entire season, registered an NBA-record 41 during the 1961-62 season. Wilt Chamberlain holds the all-time mark for consecutive triple-doubles, amassing nine straight over a two-week stretch in March 1968.
