KD: 'Basketball gods' let Swaggy P hit game-winner vs. Thunder

Kevin Durant is a big believer in the basketball gods.

He thinks the higher hardwood powers rewarded Nick Young on Tuesday, when he hit a game-winning triple to sink the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It was a controversial play, as it was drawn up for Lou Williams but Swaggy P intercepted the pass from Brandon Ingram and may have taken too many steps before releasing the shot.

Nonetheless, the bucket gave the Los Angeles Lakers the 111-109 home victory, which Durant believes they earned fair and square over his former club.

"I don't think he was ... stealing the ball from (Williams). I don't think he saw Lou Williams behind him and he was trying to run into the open space. It was one of those things where the ball is in front of you and you grab it. That's what it looked like to me," the Golden State Warriors forward said, as quoted by Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News.

"If he was trying to steal it, he would've missed the shot. The basketball gods see that type of stuff. It was a big shot for him and I'm sure it helped a lot with his confidence and the whole team's confidence. They'll be ready coming into here tonight."

Durant's theory about basketball karma may be flawed, though, as Young admitted he stole the ball from his teammate because he "just felt like (he) wanted to take the shot."

Durant will look to make sure the hoop deities are on his side Wednesday when his 12-2 Warriors host the 8-7 Lakers at Oracle Arena.
