Kings' Casspi shuts down rumors that he's requested trade
Forward Omri Casspi is playing the second-fewest minutes of his career as a reserve in his third full season with the Sacramento Kings, but his diminished role hasn't frustrated him to the point where he's demanded to be dealt.
After reports emerged Saturday indicating the 28-year-old had spoken with Kings management and formally requested a trade from the organization, he informed CSN California's James Ham that's not the case.
"Zero truth to that. Zero," Casspi said in a text.
Sources told Ham that Casspi's agent did in fact meet with the Kings earlier in the week to discuss his client's role, although there was no mention of a trade.
Casspi has appeared in just six of Sacramento's 11 games, averaging 4.3 points and 3.2 rebounds on 41.4 percent shooting from the field and 22.2 percent from behind the arc.
There are only so many minutes to go around in new head coach Dave Joerger's rotation, and Casspi's seemingly the odd man out with the likes of Matt Barnes, Garrett Temple, and Anthony Tolliver all needing playing time.
