As his backcourt mate set an NBA record, Klay Thompson continued his struggles from deep on Monday night, going just 2-of-7 from beyond the arc in a 116-106 Golden State Warriors victory.

While some have connected Thompson's recent shooting woes to the addition of Kevin Durant, the sixth-year veteran asserted that his new teammate's arrival has nothing to do with his poor play.

"Not at all," Thompson told ESPN's Ethan Sherwood Strauss. "I struggled last year for the first 20 games, and Kevin wasn't here. So it has nothing to do with Kevin."

Thompson, 26, is no stranger to shooting slumps, having undergone one just last season. The 6-foot-7 guard shot only 29 percent from deep through the first five games of 2015-16, before finishing the season tied for sixth in three-point percentage.

"So last year I struggled, then I went on a tear, so it's just like any other season," Thompson said. "Obviously we have different players, but I'm still getting the shots I always got before he was here, so it's not on Kevin at all."

Through seven games, Thompson is shooting just over 20 percent from three, and 41.2 percent overall. While the Warriors continue to rack up wins despite Thompson's poor play.

Golden State will need their All-NBA guard to heat up before embarking on an East Coast road trip next week.
