Pelicans' Jrue Holiday: Could be back by mid-November

The Pelicans are hopeful that Holiday (personal) will rejoin the team around mid-November, ESPN.com's Zach Lowe reports.

Analysis:

Holiday took an indefinite leave from the team in September upon revealing that his pregnant wife, Lauren, would require brain surgery. After giving birth to the couple's first child later that month, Lauren underwent surgery back on Oct. 20 and is expected to make a normal recovery. Holiday understandably wanted to spend further time after the operation to care for his wife and newborn, and although the Pelicans are unlikely to outline a timetable for the point guard's return given the sensitivity of the situation, there's optimism that he could soon be preparing to rejoin the club. Tim Frazier has thrived as the Pelicans' starting point guard through the team's first five games, but once he gets some practices under his belt and is fully conditioned, Holiday is expected to take back the top duties at the position. After averaging 16.8 points, 6.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 28.2 minutes per game a season ago, Holiday makes for a worthy stash in just about any format where he's available on the waiver wire.
