Rondo thought Allen was already retired

Chicago Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo apparently figured that because onetime teammate Ray Allen hadn't played since 2014, he was retired.

"I thought he'd been retired," Rondo said Tuesday, according to The Athletic's Sean Highkin. Allen had officially announced his retirement a few hours earlier, ending the speculation of the past few seasons that the 41-year-old sharpshooter would join a contender for a stretch run.

Allen and Rondo once formed the Boston Celtics backcourt, winning the 2008 NBA title together.
