Jazz's Burks out indefinitely with ankle injury

Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Utah Jazz shooting guard Alec Burks is out indefinitely after undergoing successful surgery to debride his left ankle, the team announced Tuesday.

Burks underwent arthroscopic surgery to clean out debris from his knee and ankle in June, and has failed to see an NBA court since last April.

The sixth-year guard suited up in just 27 games for Utah last season, averaging 13.3. points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists on 41 percent shooting from the floor, and 40.5 percent from deep.

The Jazz have little depth on the wing with Gordon Hayward also out, and will need to rely heavily on Rodney Hood and Joe Johnson in the coming weeks.
