Lakers' Jose Calderon: Ruled out for season opener

Calderon (calf) has been ruled out for Wednesday's season opener against the Rockets, Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Analysis:

Calderon had been considered doubtful for the opener with the left calf strain preventing him from practicing, but coach Luke Walton went ahead and ended suspense by indicating the veteran point guard wouldn't be available Wednesday. Barring a quick turnaround in his condition over the next two days, Calderon looks unlikely to play Friday against the Jazz, so Marcelo Huertas and Jordan Clarkson could be in line for some increased responsibilities as the point guards for the second unit.
