Pelicans' Jrue Holiday: Wife's brain surgery goes as planned

Holiday's wife, Lauren, underwent successful surgery last Thursday to remove a benign tumor from her brain, John Reid of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. The Pelicans point guard remains out indefinitely to care for his wife and their newborn daughter.

Analysis:

It's certainly welcome news for the Holiday family. Lauren's surgery had been delayed due to her pregnancy with the couple's first child, but after giving birth in September, she underwent the operation last week and is beginning the recovery process. Jrue is expected to remain away from the Pelicans for an undetermined amount of time in order to spend more time with his family. Tim Frazier is slated to open the season as the Pelicans' starting point guard, but Holiday should take back those duties once he's returned to the Pelicans and regained conditioning.
