Celtics' James Young: Makes Celtics' final roster

Young clinched a spot on the Celtics' 15-man roster Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Analysis:

After shooting a woeful 34.1 percent from the floor while making just 60 appearances over his first two seasons in the NBA, Young's spot on the Celtics' roster looked to be on thin ice heading into training camp, but the 21-year-old was able to beat out fellow former first-round pick R.J. Hunter for the 15th and final spot. Young didn't show much signs of improvement during the preseason, so he'll presumably remain outside of coach Brad Stevens' rotation to begin 2016-17 and could once again be ticketed for extended time in the D-League.
