Kings' Willie Cauley-Stein: Third-year option picked up

The Kings announced Friday that they have picked up the third-year option on Cauley-Stein's contract.

Analysis:

Cauley-Stein did not put up eye-popping numbers last year in his first season as a pro, finishing with averages of 7.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks over 66 games, but he remains a promising prospect and was selected sixth overall, so there was little doubt the Kings would decide to guarantee his contract for another season beyond the one that kicks off Tuesday.
