Amundson was released by the Knicks on Friday, Ian Begley of ESPN reports.

Analysis:

Amundson's cutting comes despite the fact that his contract was fully guaranteed for the 2016-17 season, which shows that even had New York kept the power forward, he would have had little-to-no role on the Knicks this year. This would be Amundson's 11th NBA season, so given that he is a veteran, there is a chance that the 33-year-old is signed down the road by a team in need of some fairly reliable frontcourt depth.
