Kings' Garrett Temple: Draws the start Tuesday

Temple will start at point guard in Tuesday's preseason game against the Clippers.

Analysis:

Though Darren Collison will play in the contest and is projected to serve as the starting point guard once he returns from an eight-game suspension, coach Dave Joerger wants to give Temple some run at the position before the regular season begins. Ty Lawson seems to be first in line to serve as the interim starter while Collison is unavailable, but after his unexcused absence Saturday against the Wizards, it's no longer clear if Joerger is comfortable using Lawson in a starting role. As such, Temple will get a look with the top unit, but he may need to play well in order to stay there when the season begins, as Lawson will be available Tuesday after seemingly mending fences with the organization.
