Report: Knicks re-signing Cleanthony Early

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Knicks are re-signing forward Cleanthony Early, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.

The 25-year-old is expected to begin the season in the D-League as he continues to rehab from a hamstring injury.

Early was selected 34th overall by the franchise in the 2014 NBA draft. In 17 appearances during the 2015-16 campaign, Early averaged 1.8 points and 1.5 rebounds on 30 percent shooting, including two starts.

He made headlines last season after being shot in the leg while leaving a Queens strip club on Dec. 30, 2015. His car was reportedly boxed in by three other vehicles when he was shot and robbed of jewelry by assailants wearing ski masks.

The bullet went right through his leg, and didn't require surgery to repair the damage.
