Pelicans' Anthony Davis: Fully healthy, but workload will be monitored
Davis is fully healthy as camp gets underway, but the Pelicans will monitor his workload throughout the preseason, the New Orleans Times-Picayune's John Reid reports.
Analysis:
Davis underwent surgery in March to fix a stress reaction in his left kneecap and spent much of the offseason recovering from a torn labrum in his left shoulder. GM Dell Demps noted that Davis isn't under any medical restrictions, but the goal is for him to open the regular season at "1,000 percent." As such, Davis will likely be held out of certain parts of practice -- he didn't participate in Tuesday's scrimmage -- and could also be rested for some preseason contests. The former No. 1 overall pick is coming off of another stellar season, in which he averaged 24.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game, but his young career has already been marred by a number of injuries, causing him to miss at least 14 games in each of his first four seasons.
