Jazz's Hill not worried about contract situation

George Hill's basketball world was flipped upside down when the Indiana Pacers - a franchise he had hoped to retire with - shipped him off to the Utah Jazz in a three-team trade back in July.

Now calling Salt Lake City his home, Hill is focused on aiding an upstart Jazz squad that lacked serious depth at the point guard position a year ago. The fact that he's entering the final year of his contract with potential unrestricted free agency on the horizon is the furthest thing from his mind at the moment.

"I haven't really talked about that much with anyone," Hill told the Salt Lake Tribune's Tony Jones on Saturday. "My whole focus is to come in here and be the best player that I can possibly be. I feel that the contract situation will work itself out, once you do that."

Hill, 30, is owed $8 million in 2016-17 after signing a five-year, $40-million contract with the Pacers during the summer of 2012. He'll also be eligible to sign an extension in October.

He's currently slotted in as the starting point guard, although a returning Dante Exum - who missed all of last season with a torn ACL in his left knee - should cut into his minutes.

Hill played five seasons in a Pacers uniform, averaging 12.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists on 45 percent shooting.
