Pelicans' Tyreke Evans: Expects to miss start of regular season

Evans (knee) is not expected to be ready for the start of the 2016-17 season, Justin Verrier of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

After dealing with knee issues over the past few seasons, Evans recently had three separate procedures on his right knee, all of which came within nine months of each other. It's an extremely tough blow to his fantasy value, as not only will he miss the start of the season, but he remains without any sort of concrete timetable for a return, making it hard to gauge how far into the regular season he'll be out. Evans' problematic history of knee injuries makes his future playing ability cloudy as well, so he's a candidate to avoid in the early rounds of fantasy drafts. This could open up an opportunity for Buddy Hield to get some early playing time as a rookie, while newly-signed E'Twaun Moore and Langston Galloway are also candidates to start the season with elevated roles.
