Lin calls Knicks reunion 'unlikely'

New York Knicks fans shouldn't hold their breath waiting for the return of Jeremy Lin.

While the unrestricted free agent looks back fondly at his time in New York, he isn't holding out hope for a reunion this summer.

"It's not looking likely because they just traded for Derrick Rose," Lin said in an interview at the World Economic Forum, as quoted by ESPN's Ian Begley. "But I will say that ever since I left, I've always been open to going back and I still am. Never say never, that's the one thing in the NBA, never say never. So I've always been open but right now, I'm not sure if it's the best timing. But if it happens, it happens."

After a disappointing season with the Los Angeles Lakers, the 6-foot-3 point guard excelled off the bench for the Charlotte Hornets this past year. He averaged 11.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and three assists on 41.2 percent shooting, while playing a key part in the Hornets' return to the playoffs.

"I want to see how good I can become," Lin added. "I'm 27, and an athlete's prime, or at least in the NBA, your prime is usually 27-30. So I'm going into my prime and I want to see how great I can be as a player, and that's my purpose in free agency - so I'll just exhaust every opportunity to see which one will be the best for me."

After jumping from team to team over his six-year career, Lin is just looking to find a home this offseason.

"I've played six years, in the NBA, I've played on five different teams. I've played for two D-League teams - so seven cities in six years. I'm tired of boxes, I'm tired of moving companies and I want to find a home," he said.
